Trad lovers head over to the Oasis session!

It’s Wednesday, so that means the strings and whistles and bodhrans and all will be out in force at the Oasis.  Since St Patrick’s Day happens to fall on a Wednesday this year, John and Kelly the publicans are planning a nice meal for an evening of trad music and song. Save the date.

Continue your Norfolk Irish Fest at Mo and O’Malley’s

Floggin Molly, Dropkick Murphy, and now Martin Marron at Mo and O’Malleys this week! Norfolk is turning green!

Parade update

Just letting you all know that we have secured the boat, trailer, and boom box.  We’re on track for a fun trip down Ocean View Avenue on Saturday, March 13th.  Please let us know if you’re planning to join us for the festivities.  The more, the merrier!  No special clothing required, but it’s a great opprtunity to pull out your favorite Irish team, pub, or brewery shirt - or maybe a cozy Aran sweater.  Don’t forget - there is an Irish in Virginia Logo Wear link on this site for anyone who would like to wear our logo on a t-shirt or hoodie.

The IRISH are rocking Hampton Roads this week!

Check out the NORVA this week for Floggin Molly on Monday and Dropkick Murphy on Tuesday back to back!!!

Gathering notes and upcoming events

Hi all,

The membership of the IIV voted unanimously to participate in the Williamsburg Scottish Festival fundraiser.

Many of the IIV will be frolicking around town at their favorite pubs for ST Patrick’s Day, and some of

us may visit a few. John at the Oasis will provide St Patrick’s Day fare for those who plan to go to the Wednesday Session. Wherever you end up, please raise a toast to your fellow irish all over the world!!

Please sign up for the parade as soon as possible so we know what people want to do.

We would love to get a count on how many strollers and kids are participating.

Musicians, please call or write to Gayle to let her know what instrument you are playing. Also, we are looking for a portable boom box in case of inclement weather.

A big thank you to the Conklin’s Irish Rover for donating to defray the costs of the parade for us.
